Lawson's Cousins come to visit

Lawson's cousins Emma, Abby and John Brady came to visit us in Arlington recently. Lawson's Aunt Kim and Uncle Brady came too. We all had a great time in and around Arlington and Washington DC.

The first day they were here we went to the Udvar-Hazy Center. This is a part of the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum but is at Dulles Airport, not on the National Mall. The main reason is there is just no room at the museum on the mall for all the AMAZING things they have here. There is a Concorde, the Space Shuttle Enterprise, The Enola Gay, the Boeing 707 prototype, the SR-71A spy plane and hundreds of others. Everything from the Wright Brother's era to rockets, missles and satellites. Best of all, its FREE!!! (but parking is $12.)

Courtney and Lawson take in the Space Shuttle Enterprise. This one never actually went into space but was used for all of the testing, usually being flown on top of a 747. They also had one of the original Mercury space capsules and Gemini capsules and all sorts of other stuff.

This is the SR-71-A spy plane -- the fastest jet-powered aircraft in history. Its final flight was from Los Angeles to Washington to be put in this museum. It set a record by making the trip in 1 hour and 4 minutes. Its just plain cool.

There was an observation tower where you could watch planes taking off and landing at Dulles Airport. Here John Brady and his new friend Chukkanukka watch a plane land.

Lawson and Courtney are tired. Time to take a load off.
Day 2, The Lawson kids get their first ever train ride on the Washington Metro.

Poor Brady, this is pretty much where John Brady spent the entire day, on his shoulders.

Walking along the reflecting pool between the WWII Memorial and the Lincoln Memorial.

After a long day, a nice, late lunch of some great mexican food in Arlington

One of the girls left this for us. Awwww. We miss you all too!
