First Trip to Lake Martin!

Hello everyone! I'm starting our blog with Baby Lawson's FIRST trip to the Long family cabin on Lake Martin. We drove down on Monday and spent baby's FIRST night away from home! He seemed to enjoy eating on the front porch swing the most (see below!)


"The cabin" is very special to Dave and his family; it was built by Dave's Grandfather Glass. Growing up, Dave's family vacationed there almost every summer. He says these are some of his best childhood memories. Dave and his brothers (Stephen & Ken) have continued to regularly visit the cabin, so it was particularly special for Dave to share the cabin with his newborn son, Lawson.

Speaking of Dave's brothers, Brother Ken, his wife Shawna (who is expecting), and their daughter Amber were in town from Orlando and staying at the cabin also. We had a big family dinner Monday night, including Dave's oldest brother Stephen who lives in the area. Ellen (Dave's mom) really enjoyed having her whole family together again!

The 3 Meriwethers - Meriwether Eugene Long, Stephen Meriwether Long, & Lawson Meriwether Long!

Of course, Lawson's first trip to Lake Martin to visit Grandmother and Grandfather Long would not be complete without showing Lawson where Grandfather (and sometimes Dave, if he's lucky) plays golf at Willow Point! We even "did lunch" at da club too! Grandmother Long couldn't resist showing little Lawson off to the ladies in the Pro Shop and buying him a sunhat just like Grandfather's!
